Being chosen by another photographer to capture their family portraits is one of the greatest compliments any family photographer can receive. Recently, I had the privilege of meeting the Carney family for a stunning sunset shoot at Fingal Beach.

There is something special about Tiarne. She is one of those people who feels like sunshine. Although I was meeting her for the first time, it instantly felt like we were old friends. The rest of the family were the same; I could just feel the love radiating from the moment they stepped out of the car.

Located along the stunning coast of northern New South Wales, Fingal Beach is a picturesque destination that exudes natural beauty. With its pristine shoreline, rolling waves and majestic rock formations, this hidden gem is an idyllic backdrop for an intimate Byron Bay family photography session away from the holiday crowds.

As we began our session on the magnificent cliff top, we could see storm clouds rolling in but instead of a downpour we were blessed with a vibrant rainbow—adding an extra touch of magic to our time together. Sometimes I must pinch myself that creating such special and captivating moments is all part of my job!

As the sun was eventually swallowed by storm clouds, we finished our session on the beach before a mad dash back to the car as the rain was unleashed.

Being entrusted with capturing another photographer's family photos is an incredible honour, and I was grateful to witness the magic of this extraordinary location while capturing the essence of their beautiful connection.
